Job Description

Working alongside a large team, the role of the Facilities and Maintenance Specialist is to provide maintenance of the building structures, the building systems, and to ensure the safety and overall upkeep of YWCA Crabtree Corner and its occupants. This includes 3 departmental programs, Crabtree Early Learning and Care Center, Crabtree Housing (12 units) and Crabtree Corner Community Programming.  

What you’ll be doing:   

  • Respond to maintenance requests ranging from minor to major repairs across three departments. 

  • Perform minor to major repairs in 12 housing units, including painting and unit turnover preparation. 

  • Maintain a Preventative Maintenance Program for major building systems (HVAC, furnaces, water, fire prevention, security, electrical, etc.). 

  • Conduct regular interior and exterior building inspections to ensure safety and functionality. 

  • Complete minor repairs, installations, and plumbing work as needed. 

  • Coordinate, arrange, and manage contractors, including support on Capital Projects. 

  • Communicate maintenance issues and updates to managers in a timely manner. 

  • Support purchasing, receiving, moving, and storing building supplies and equipment with Program Managers. 

  • Maintain building upkeep, including painting, power washing, snow removal, and site cleanliness. 

  • Collaborate across departments, contribute to safety/security coverage, and participate in meetings and committees to support building operations  

  • Other duties as required 

What you’ll need:  

  • 1–3+ years of experience in building maintenance, facilities, or a related trade 

  • Ability to complete minor to major repairs, including basic plumbing, painting, and general maintenance 

  • Familiarity with building systems (HVAC, electrical, water, safety systems) is an asset 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize urgent maintenance requests 

  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with staff, managers, and contractors 

  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn internal systems 

  • Reliable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a community-based environment 

  •  A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.

Pay Rate: $35.02 + 12% in lieu of time off and benefits
