Job Description
As a Community Development Coordinator with YWCA BC, you will connect tenants with community resources and support the development of engaging community programs and activities. In this on-site role, you will work directly with single women and their children living in rent-geared-to-income (RGI) independent housing. The community features shared amenities, including community gardens, an outdoor play area, and an amenity room, which provide opportunities for tenant engagement and community building.

What you’ll be doing:

Meet with new tenants to provide orientation to their new housing and the community
-
Schedule, organize and facilitate bi-monthly community conversations with tenants
-
Support the creation of tenant events, celebrations, and workshops, ensuring active tenant involvement. Additionally, create a monthly calendar to display all activities, meetings, and events.

Apply a participant-centered approach with an intersectional trauma informed lens to all tenant interactions and activities
-
Responsible for coordination and fair distribution of donations

Responsible for spending, tracking and submitting expense reports for site budget
-
Supervise volunteers and practicum students
-
Participate in community committees
-
Keep amenity and common spaces tidy and clean between weekly professional cleaning
-
Distribute property management notices to tenants
-
Provide entry to vendors attending at the housing sites
-
Report repair issues to property management through the repair portal
-
Coordinate with YWCA programs, including employment and single mother's services, to distribute information and schedule meetings with tenant involvement.

Providing tours to donors/donor groups
-
Coordinate with fund development regarding donations of goods and services
-
Keep up to date on available resources and programs that may benefit the families
-
Responsible for tracking statistics and program outcomes

Adhering to onsite Health and Safety Procedures
-
Other duties as required
What you’ll need:

Demonstrated knowledge of community development principles
-
Experience in facilitating group meetings and events
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-
Strong organizational and time management skills and able to prioritize duties

Appropriate professional boundaries
-
Knowledge of issues faced by lone parenting women
-
Knowledge of local and city-wide community services and skilled in researching resources

Familiar with trauma informed practice

Familiar with de-escalation
-
Team player
-
Able to work independently and be self-motivated
-
Able to show initiative, flexibility and demonstrate a positive attitude towards change and work

Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Teams, OneDrive, Sharepoint)

A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
