Focus Forward

YWCA Focus Forward is a free, highly-participatory employment program that helps women* assess their skills and strengths, set career goals, build connections and develop job search strategies to find meaningful, sustainable employment. 

Program Structure

Online and In-person Workshops (weeks 1 – 8): 

  • Must be available Monday to Friday to attend a variety of online workshops from 10:00am to 2:00pm 

  • Mix of online and in-person small group coaching and workshops 

Workshop Topics: 

  • Assessments (career, personality, skills, interests and values)  

  • Personal development (self-esteem and self-assertion, effective communication and coping with change and stress)  

  • Job search skills (resumé, cover letter, personal branding, interviews, networking, hidden job market access and current labour market information)  

Coaching and Job Search Support:  

Coaching sessions and job search support in individualized and group settings.  

  • Guidance, support and encouragement   
  • Weekly goal setting and action planning  
  • Job leads and networking opportunities
Participants Must Be
Participants Must Be
  • Self-identifying women* who require support in finding or preparing for employment, including those experiencing barriers to employment
  • Able to commit to four weeks of online and in-person workshops
  • Resident of Metro Vancouver
