Job Description

This YWCA position will be working as part of a multi-agency team within the Chilliwack WorkBC Catchment operated by WCG Services (www.wcgservices.com).  The successful candidate will be working in delivering the YWCA LEADS Program within the WorkBC model in Chilliwack. The LEADS program provides specialized employment services in both group and individual based formats to clients who identify as Survivors of Violence and/or Abuse.   

  

What you’ll be doing:    

  

  • Facilitate the YWCA LEADS program components which provide specialized employment services as part of a group-based format and individual services for clients who identify as Survivors of Violence (SOV) and/or Abuse as part of the WorkBC employment services model in Chilliwack 

  • Conduct one-to-one intake interviews for LEADS to assess client eligibility 

  • Ensure safety plan and basic needs are in place and work with clients to refer to counselling, community resources and any other referrals as appropriate 

  • Assist new participants to prepare and be ready for LEADS program start 

  • Work cooperatively with community organizations that provide supports and resources relevant to survivors of violence/abuse in the Chilliwack area 

  • Use a participant centered approach to work with clients that have diverse needs, learning styles, and employment goals  

  • Facilitate assessments, career research and planning, employability and job search skill development with clients 

  • Support clients in developing healthy boundaries, confidence, resilience and coping skills 

  • Provide job search coaching; assist clients in identifying and overcoming employment barriers, setting realistic career goals, and creating and following action plans 

  • Assist participants with resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, and labor market information 

  • Maintain an organized client caseload, including managing follow up; ensure documentation standards are met as part of WorkBC policy 

  • Proficient and effective use of the Integrated Case Management system (ICM) (Training provided for ICM and WorkBC model) 

  • Assist clients to participate in the Single Parents Employment Initiative where eligible 

  • Conducting specialized outreach into the community to connect SOV clients to WorkBC services and LEADS Program 

  • Work collaboratively with the Chilliwack WorkBC team to support clients to achieve and sustain employment goals 

  • Working with the wider Chilliwack WorkBC catchment team and the YWCA SOV Manager, providing any additional support where needed by WCG and YWCA to connect Chilliwack catchment clients with employment 

  • Other duties as required.  

 

What you’ll need:   

 

  • Career advising and/or employment counselling experience, with demonstrated experience working one-to-one with clients and facilitating workshops 

  • Relevant post-secondary degree or diploma, or a combination of relevant education and experience 

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team  

  • Career coaching, counselling, social service work skills or a combination are beneficial 

  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal  

  • Skills with all Microsoft applications (i.e. Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) 

  • Able to show initiative, flexibility and demonstrate positive attitude towards change and work    

  • A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.   

 

Bonus qualities (but not required)   

 

  • Gender-based violence/trauma informed training or certification    

  • Experience working with clients that have experienced violence or abuse  

  • Experience working in performance-based employment programming 

  • Case Management experience 

  • Additional languages an asset

Pay Rate: $35.89 per hour
